Mobile apps make our lives easier, turning time-consuming tasks into a breeze, adding a sepia tint to menial moments and keeping us on task when distractions run rampant. As a devoted mobile user, you’ve probably even had an app epiphany of your own: a sudden mind-blowing app concept that couldn’t quite make it to fruition without the skill set to build it.
Here’s the good news: The Mobile Makers Academy wants to help you turn those application dreams into reality. Founded in Chicago, Mobile Makers Academy is a 10 week training program focused on mobile development. “Our mission is simple,” says Mobile Makers’ Community & Operations guy, Adam Haun. “We’re continuing to push the tech movement that’s taking place in Chicago by turning it to mobile. Mobile developers are wanted and needed everywhere. . .everywhere. So we’re transitioning early stage and experienced developers into mobile developers.”
Mobile Makers Academy is taking applications for an iOS-focused course that begins in October, and an Android course is also in the works. We’re huge fans of the concept, but we’re also into their landing page. Here’s why Mobile Maker’s Academy Made our list of best landing page designs:
- Countdown. There’s nothing like an impending deadline to drive users to take action.
- Bold call to action. There are full blown studies out there on “the most effective button text” for landing page forms. Usually, the key is keep things simple and yet interesting. In this case, Mobile Makers ditched the expected and mundane “Apply Now” for the more inspring “Become an iOS Developer” button.
- No information overload. While descriptions of Mobile Makers Academy could get pretty complex, the team wisely kept things simple on the landing page with a brief description and the option to dig deeper.
