Mobile-Friendly Sites Earn Happy Customers

A new report from Google shows that – surprise surprise – a mobile-friendly site is the key to a mobile visitor’s happiness and wallet. The survey asked 1,088 US adult smartphone users about their mobile browsing experiences.

Users Prefer Mobile Sites, But Brands Aren’t Delivering

Nearly 75% of users say they prefer mobile-friendly sites, but that’s not what they’e getting. 96% say they’ve encountered sites that are not mobile compatible.

Mobile Sites Create Return Visitors, Customers

Want visitors to come back? 74% of people said they are more likely to return to a mobile-friendly site in the future. Want to turn visitors into customers? 67% said when they visit a mobile-friendly site, they are more likely to make a purchase.

Mobile Visitors Are Impatient

61% of smartphone users said if they can’t find what they are looking for on a mobile site right away, they will give up and try a different site. And even if they like a business, 56% of users said they would use them less often if the site is not mobile-friendly.

If You’re Not Mobile-Friendly, Visitors Get Angry

When you neglect your mobile site, you neglect your potential customers – and that can do some serious damage to your reputation.

  • 36% say they feel like these sites are a waste of their time
  • 52% said that a bad mobile experience made them less likely to engage with a company
  • 48% said if a site didn’t work well on their smartphone, it made them feel like the company didn’t care about their business
