We’re lucky to have the Rick Bayless trifecta right around the corner from our office. In case Frontera, Topolobampo and Xoco are out of your reach, Bayless and team recently released an iPhone app for creating authentic Mexican dishes on your own.
Mexican Essentials includes 35 Mexican recipes that Rick considers the foundation of his cooking, photos included. If you need a little extra culinary guidance, there are 40 instructional videos available within the app. For ingredient gathering the app includes a list of 32 key Mexican ingredients with identification photos and tips for buying, using and storing them. Rick also explains each of these ingredients via audio recordings. Finally, a handy shopping list aggregator keeps track of the ingredients you need for multiple recipes.
Recipes include Classic Ceviche, Potato-Chorizo Tacos with Tomatilla Salsa and Tortilla Soup.
