The Golden Globes, like the Superbowl, often brings out the best and worst in brand marketing. Here are some great brand wins from last night:
The Muppets Take the Golden Globes AND Twitter
Unlike other ads for upcoming movies, “Muppets Most Wanted” addressed the its lack of Golden Globes nominations, probably because it is not even out yet. The ad not only addressed a relevant topic with the awards show, but it utilized the power of a Twitter brawl complete with grammar errors and spam tweets. No worries, these accounts seem to be set up specifically for the ad, and no real Twitter accounts were affected. And if gold is your thing, try our roundup of rose gold headphones so you can listen in style!
Bing Celebrates Women
Bing’s commercial “celebrating the women of 2013” was a bit controversial as it featured Margaret Thatcher, but it also featured countless other women who accomplished great feats in 2013.
There were many positive reactions on Twitter. We only wish they would have integrated a hashtag to carry on the conversation.
Honorable Mentions: L’Oreal and Skinnygirl Cocktails
L’Oreal tweeted a tribute to old Hollywood with a quick hair tutorial. The tweet also links to their Tumblr account with full directions. A+ for providing useful content!

Skinnygirl Cocktails ran a very fitting ad focusing on a little red dress and of course, cocktails. The ad integrated #LetsDrinkToThat to carry conversations to the second screen. While there are some unrelated tweets, the hashtag allows users to find Skinnygirl creator Bethenny Frankel live-tweeting as well as the brand itself. Others joined in to live-tweet the show with the hashtag, too.
