Brand Birthday Bashes: How to Celebrate Your Creation

People are always looking for an excuse to party, and a birthday is the most liable reason for jubilation. We celebrate birthdays belatedly or sometimes over the course of an entire week (despite what others may think). Your brand can even make its birthday party last a whole month long with all of the hype leading up to the event. Here is a quick look at a few brands who have fostered the finest of festivities.

LEGO’s 80th

LEGO, a timeless product, decided to produce a charming informational video of the company’s history. This provided the loving anniversary theme of reminiscence that you might harvest if you’re hosting a notable milestone nearing a centennial or beyond. If you’re not quite there yet, a brief overview of the company’s history also works at any age if you have a compelling enough story to tell. Watch the 17-minute animated video here.

Captain Morgan’s 375ish

If your brand has a Mascot, this is the perfect time to let it loose! Our lonelybrand Impala definitely has a few stories to tell. Your mascot is a unique symbol of your brand, and hey—mascots are people, too, which furthers the humanistic aspect of your company. Consumers love taking photos with these cuddly brand ambassadors, allowing free press for your brand when they post the momentous photo onto a social media networking site for all their friends to see.

The Captain goes a step further to nationalize his birthday as an annual event, fittingly so with the added drunken humor of forgetting his exact age and the looming whiskey shortage. Catch the cleverly comical video here.

Oreo’s 100th

Some brands commemorate birthdays by adapting the old into something new either with an improved or limited edition of their item/service. Oreo created a “birthday cake” cookie with colorfully speckled creme to resemble sprinkles. As part of their largest promotion ever celebrating 100 years in 100 days, they also gained consumer involvement by featuring fellow birthday-holders on their Facebook page, first requiring consumers to “like” their page to join the fun.

woot!’s 8th

The most puzzling party to plan is that of an online company. Woot (“One Day, One Deal” online discounts and deals services website) concocted The Wootathon, a 24 hour birthday party video stream commemorating the company’s shindig from midnight to midnight. This bizarre idea perfectly fits the business’s eccentric and unconventional nature (that you quickly pick up on from reading their content) while also catering to consumers tendency towards reality TV.

What are some of your favorite brand birthday celebrations? Are you one to join the party? Share your stories with us!
