Instagram Got a Little Bit Cooler This Weekend

Over the weekend, Instagram made a few slight changes ranging from basic interface tweaks to new photo editing tools. Below we’ll highlight the new features to make sure you’re getting the most bang for your Instagram buck.

Prettier Interface

The most obvious changes in the application are aesthetic. Instagram ditched the text in its toolbar for simple, image-based icons. The buttons along the bottom (Home, Popular, Share, News and Profile) now look like this:

Sierra is the latest addition to Instagram’s growing filter family.

Contrast Booster

The new “Lux” feature can be used to increase a photo’s contrast. Whereas a user formerly had to make these edits in the iOS camera app or another external tool like Camera+, they can now easily make the changes within Instagram using the eclipse symbol in the bottom left corner.

So there you go – three new ways to impress your friends with stellar iPhone photog skills. Updates are available through the App Store.
