Good overall quality for the electric toothbrush category. Since electric toothbrushes were invented, we have lamented at poor battery life, weak cleaning power, and warranty fiascos. Burst have included top quality chipsets and firmware, and we were pleased with the overall experience. The design is not for everyone, and can be a bit slippery to hold, but otherwise stands up to the best.
Easy to use, but limited features. Daily brushing is indeed simple with the Burst. Simply turn on and select a power level to begin the brushing experience. But there are features noticeably missing, including pressure sensors and adaptive technology. We hope Burst offers more of these features on future models.
Charcoal gimmick comes at a high cost. Though there is little evidence to support charcoal as a daily ingredient to proper oral hygiene, Burst would have you think an expensive brush head is required to achieve a brighter smile. In reality, it is playing off a trend that holds charcoal up as a cure all of sorts, when a regular brush head will do the same job.

Why Oral-B gets our approval for the Smart 4
Underwhelming style that delivers on features. Despite a somewhat antiquated look, the Smart 4 includes all of the modern features we expect in a brush costing over $100. That includes pressure sensors, timers, and real time feedback when brushing. The extras, however, are where Oral-B lose points.
Accessories not included. Oral-B are somewhat stingy with the Smart 4, and include only 1 replacement head in their signature round bristle arrangement. Considering they recommend changing brush heads once every 3 months, the cost of ownership will certainly add up. Also absent are a travel case and charger.
Built for oral health, but may not work for you. While Oral-B have a legacy of creating best in class products that are up to the task, you can find feature rich competitors that simply do a better job at nearly half the price. Perhaps Oral-B are trading on their name and close relationship with dental offices around the world. Unless you are obsessed with brand name alone, you may be able to find a better value.

While the 4100 is acceptable in a number of categories, it fails to excel in any one. What we end up with is a generic jack of all trades that is not best in class with a high price tag.

Colgate have developed their own answer to the competitive electric toothbrush market, and unfortunately it falls flat in nearly every category. Underpowered and with an oddly shaped brush head, the brush is a very basic affair. Paired with the included and needlessly complex app, and it’s a recipe for a failed first attempt.

Voom are a newcomer to the Australian market, and the Sonic Pro 7 is their first model to be sold down under. The brush itself does a reasonable job, but extremely limited features and poor ergonomics hamper what may one day be a good brand. We recommend skipping in favor of a future generation.
